Impact of bidis on the Indian cigarette industry

22 Feb 2021. Bidi (also spelt as beeri, beedi and biri) is the most popular form of smoking in India. Bidis are thin hand-rolled cigarettes made from locally grown coarse tobacco flakes and hand rolled in tendu leaf. Mostly produced and sold by small cottage industries, bidis have a very profound impact on cigarette consumption in the country.
